about

There are times for lament--particularly when we look around and see the tragedy of poverty and suffering and the broken, partial--often ornamental--efforts to intercede. Action is essential, even finite, problematic action; but sometimes I tire of Sisyphus’ boulder and long for “heaven”--when all things are healed; when all things are made right--violence and deception exposed and brought to an end; judgement, forgiveness and reconciliation of all things drawn to fulfillment. A dream that inspires; and moreso, a vision to live by.

lyrics

A dry and thirsty wanderer,
In a dry and thirsty land;
Another day has gone, and another day began;
And this may be the golden sunrise I have sought;
But hope fades in the sunlight like the dew;
If only dreams could come true.

I’ve seen the vine grow heavy,
And the branches bow low;
But the wine is blood
and the soil is war;
And this may be the day
When bloodshed is no more...
But hope has spilt upon that bloodstained soil,
If only dreams could come true.

I’ve seen the ripe fruit wither
In the hand of a child;
Their cup and bowl lay broken.
I’ve seen the infant feeding
On a well gone dry;
The hunger pains awoken.
And this may be the day
When mercy is upheld...
But hope has withered like the dying leaves;
If only dreams could come true.

But this may be the day
The golden trumpet sounds--
The skies divide, and all hope shines through;
Even so, Lord, come soon.
